- Abstract
The relationship between education expenditure and economic growth has always been the concern of pedagogy and economics. In the later of 20th century, education investment has gradually been recognized by the academia as one of the important factors to promote economic development. This paper studies the relationship between the proportion of education expenditure in GDP and per capita GDP in China and the United States, verify the promotion effect of education to economic growth. It is concluded that the rate of return of China’s investment in education is higher than that of the United States. Finally, it provides corresponding policy suggestions for the development of China’s education and economic progress.
