Abstract

Performance pay is often used to link performance and pay, with the aim of motivating employees to work better. This paper explains the impact of performance compensation on employee behavior from both the reinforcement theory and the expectation theory, and puts forward some requirements for the effective use of performance compensation to motivate employees and improve employee performance.
