- Abstract
The mental characteristics of the English subject core accomplishment are embodied by the thinking quality. Facing today’s thinking training problems in high school in China, many researchers have claimed implementing the activity view of English learning is the countermeasure. Therefore, this article first discusses the definition of English learning activity view followed by theoretical foundation clarification and the connotation of thinking quality. Furthermore, this study takes the reading class of unit three of compulsory English textbook for senior high school in China as an example, and establishes English teaching objectives from three aspects: studying curriculum standards, understanding teaching objects, and analyzing discourse thoroughly. In the end, this article sets three kinds of activities based on the teaching objectives, namely, the perception and understanding activities around the discourse, the application and practice activities of deepening the discourse, as well as the transfer and innovation activities beyond the discourse to realize thinking-oriented English teaching and achieve the education practice reform.
