- Abstract
Chinese Opera has developed for hundreds of years, and drama was introduced in the early 20th century from the West. In the development process of drama in China, how to apply acting techniques of Chinese Opera into drama has always been an important issue for dramatists. There have been many people considering and put it into practice, among whom Ouyang Yuqian was an expert in both arts. In the early 1950s, as the president of Central Academy of Drama, he made a general planning for dramatic theatre, which is “To create the most innovative and most aesthetic drama on the basis of tradition.” To achieve this, on the one hand, he focused on teaching what to learn from tradition. On the other hand, he strengthened basic skill training in teaching practice, to prepare for the integration of them. He pointed out that “lines” and “body” were two pillars and put forward the “trilogy” in acting, which were of significance in training actors of “Chinese Drama Genre” and made a great contribution to the integration of drama and Chinses Opera.
