Conference: Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Education Innovation and Social Science (ICEISS 2023)
Date: 18 July 2023
Location: Surakarta, Indonesia (Online)
Website: https://iceiss.ums.ac.id/2023/ Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
Holistic education is an educational philosophy that departs from the idea that basically an individual can find identity, meaning, and purpose in life through his relationship with society, the natural environment, and spiritual values. The goal of holistic education is to help develop individual potential in a more enjoyable, exciting, democratic, and humane learning atmosphere through experience in interacting with their environment. Holistic and constructivist education can be an important combination for changing the learning process of students inside and outside educational institutions, by involving the role of the community to acquire 21st-century skills and knowledge. Therefore, the Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta’s Accounting Education Study Program feels the need to hold discussion activities that can present education experts and education practitioners to exchange ideas with each other regarding the topic of reimagining and rebuilding a holistic and constructive education in the “2nd International Conference on Education Innovation and Social Science (ICEISS).” At the conference, there were three keynote speakers, namely Prof. Christine Goh, Ph.D.—Nanyang Technology University, Singapore, with the topic: Future-Ready Educators: Challenges and Opportunities of 21st Century Education; Yuni Yuningsih, Ph.D.—Curtin University, Australia, with the topic: “Learning models and learning assessments that are in accordance with a holistic and constructive philosophy of education in the field of social sciences”; and Mr. Darmadi, M.Pd., from Head of Balai Besar Guru Penggerak (BBGP) Central Java Province, Indonesia, with the topic “The application of good practice holistic and constructive learning models at the higher education level as well as primary or secondary education levels.” There were 201 papers participated in this conference, and 24 papers were selected by Atlantis Press. Therefore, it is hoped that this conference can be a forum for researchers to disseminate their research results related to education innovation and social science or focus and scope of 2nd ICEISS 2023. Sincerely, Tri Nur Wahyudi
