The fluency in the use of these linguistic units shows a high level of language proficiency. That is why phrasal verbs are an essential component of the English language learning process and, therefore, can be considered a key element in the formation of students’ language competence. At the same time, insufficient attention is paid to the consideration of phrasal verbs in textbooks and training manuals recommended for teaching English to students of non-linguistic specialties. The article describes the phased approach to work on phrasal verbs. Some possible ways and recommendations of working on phrasal verbs as well as essential types of exercises are proposed in the article.
