Abstract

In this paper, the design and realization of an on-line monitoring system for leakage current through the insulators near substation are presented. The system with the distributed structure mainly consists of computer and on-site monitoring units that are based on DSP. The monitoring units involve real-time sampling the leakage current through the insulators together with environment temperature and humidity, preprocessing the data and sending the useful information to the computer by CAN bus. At the same time, the computer achieves the functions of saving data, displaying the information according to users, and predicting the degree of the insulators dirtiness. Through practical tests, the system is proved to be efficient and robust.
