Proceedings of the International Conference on Business and Management Research (ICBMR 2017)
The 11th International Conference on Business and Management Research (ICBMR 2017) was held in Padang (West Sumatra province), Indonesia on 1-3 November 2017. This conference was organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia, in particular Management Research Centre, the Department of Management. This large gathering of academicians would not be possible without the supports from KPPRI UI and sponsoring organizations, PT. Pertamina, PT. Telkom, PT. Bank Central Asia and supporting journals/publisher: Asian Journal of Business and Accountancy, Pertanika Journal of Social Science and Humanities, ASEAN Marketing Journal, Indonesian Capital Market Review, The Southeast Asian Management Journal, and Atlantis Press.
The theme of the 2017 conference is “Deglobalization: Challenges for Emerging Countries”, to capture significant changes in the political world that may impact emerging countries. The Governor of West Sumatra provonce, Prof. Dr. H. Irwan Prayitno, SPsi, MSc, gave a welcome speech, and the conference was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M. Met., Rector of Universitas Indonesia. Three keynote speeches were given by Prof. Iftekhar Hasan from Fordham University with the topic of externalities of globalization: evidence from foreign bank ownership and international diversification, by Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro, SE, M.UP, Ph.D (Minister of National Planning/Head of Bappenas) with the topic of harnessing the opportunity in infrastructure investment, and by Assoc. Prof. Rubi Ahmad from University of Malaya with the topic of how to publish in reputable international journals.
We received 230 abstracts, 146 papers submitted and 108 papers were accepted for publication. This conference used double-blind review process, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed, throughout the review process. The presenters come from several countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Australia, and United States of America. The presented papers are from different management and business fields: finance and Islamic finance, marketing, human resources management, general and strategic management, management information system, operations management, economics and accounting.
Since 2016, we have implemented “no-show policy”, which means only presented papers will be published in either the conference proceedings or journals. About half of the papers are published in the proceedings, and the remainders of the papers are published in our supporting journals.
This conference may not be possible without the support and hard work of all parties involved in organizing and conducting the event. We want to express our gratitude to the Governor of West Sumatra province, the leaders of Universitas Indonesia and Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia. We also want to thank all contributors, reviewers, keynote speakers, track chairs, KPPRI UI, sponsors, supporting journals/publisher, and most of all members of the organizing and scientific committees.
