- Abstract
Digital finance (DIF) has advanced rapidly over recent years, and it is worth exploring whether it can benefit China’s technology market (TEM). Based on China’s provincial panel data from 2011 to 2020, this paper empirically studies the impact and regional heterogeneity of DIF on China’s TEM development by using a two-way fixed effects (TWFE) model. The results show that: (1) DIF has a significant positive impact on China’s TEM development; (2) The coverage breadth, use depth and digitization degree of DIF all have a significant positive impact on China’s TEM development, but the influence decreases in order; (3) The role of DIF in promoting the TEM in the underdeveloped regions of the central and western regions is significantly stronger than that in the eastern regions, and it is heterogeneous in different dimensions. The research conclusions of this paper will provide a reliable theoretical basis and policy implications for promoting the development of China’s TEM.
