The 2023 9th International Conference on Advances in Energy Resources and Environment Engineering (ICAESEE 2023) was held via virtual form in Sanya, China, from December 29th–31st, 2023. Previous conferences in the past eight years of this series were successfully held, and it was agreed to hold the conference once a year, with the aim to establish and develop a constant international collaboration.
In recent years, interest in energy resources and environment engineering problems has been flourishing all over the globe because of both theoretical and practical requirements. Considering the trend, the ninth conference of ICAESEE series was organized in order to provide a forum for developing research cooperation and to promote research and other academic activities in related fields.

We entertained about 150 participants at the ninth conference and arranged various speeches and presentations which covered a wide range of topics related to the conference theme. Many researchers all over the world have contributed to the emerging technology and application of energy resources and environment engineering. The wonderful keynote speeches included On the Stability of the Lattice Boltzmann Flux Solvers (RLBFS) for High-Speed Compressible Flows by Prof. Mingzhou Qin (Henan University, China), An Analysis of Expense-Bound Enhancement Power Demands in the ASEAN Electricity Market by Prof. Goh Hui Hwang (Guangxi University, China), Research on Preparation and Application Technology of Ionic Liquids by Prof. Baoyou Liu (Hebei University of Science and Technology, China), Recent Progress in the Technologies for Bioenergy Generation From Bio(Mass)Wastes by Prof. El-Sayed Salama (Lanzhou University, China), and Solid Waste Management in Malaysia: Towards Sustainability by Assoc. Prof. Zawawi Bin Daud (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Malaysia).

ICAESEE 2023 has been endorsed and supported by many national and international energy- and environment-related universities and organizations. The topics of papers collected and undergone peer review in the Proceedings of ICAESEE 2023 can be classified as follows: Oil and Gas Resources Engineering and Processing, Clean Production Process, Ecological Environment Protection, Urban and Regional Planning, Energy Industry Economy, Energy Market Analysis, etc.

Last but not the least is our gratitude. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the keynote speakers, authors, and committee members for the success of the conference, which has given rise to this present volume of selected papers. We would also like to acknowledge the staff of Atlantis Press for their effective work to make this volume published.
