"Last mile" delivery problem in Chinese electronic commerce logistics and improvement method research

- Abstract
In recent years, the rapid development of e-commerce not only benefited the whole Chinese economic, but also changed consumers' attitudes and approaches. As e-commerce developed, the last mile delivery problem has become a key factor in the electronic commerce logistics. The last mile delivery is the only stage which contacts consumers directly. The cost and quality of whole logistics are both influenced by the last mile delivery. In Chinese e-commerce logistics and distribution, the last mile delivery has high distribution costs, and low quality of service, which has been an important issue which impedes the development of electronic commerce. In this paper, last mile delivery problem of electricity commerce logistics distribution is explored by analyzing the operation of the last mile delivery, and proposed solution methods are presented to improve efficiency in "last mile" delivery.
