- Abstract
This article aims to discuss the result of research on creative dance as intervention for psychomotor and thinking changes of children with mental retardation. Children with mental retardation experience delays in their ability to move, think, and act. The research methodologies used in this study is a qualitative paradigm with descriptive analysis method. The information gathered is supported by documentation studies, fieldwork, interviews, and literature reviews. Triangulation was used to do the analysis. This article will discuss about creative dancing as a tool for children with mental retardation. The findings of this study demonstrate that creative dance, which enhances and modifies neurotransmitters and activates acetylcholine, dopamine, and gaba, is a very useful tool for the development of children with mental retardation.
