Abstract

This paper examined husband and housewife time allocation and analyzed analyze the influence of wife status and attributes on time allocation devoted to domestic activities by focusing on husbands’ time allocation on domestic works. Survey of 180 fishery households was conducted in Bengkulu city. Statistical Descriptive analysis and multi-regression equation approach were used to determine factors affecting housework time allocation of fishery households. The research found that time allocated by husband for domestic activities are higher in working wife household group than the nonworking wife. It is found that social status of women and time allocation for productive activities of the wife are significant variables affecting husbands’ time allocation for domestic activities.
