Abstract

Anagrams refer to getting new words and sentences by swapping the positions of letters and words in a sentence, or increasing or decreasing the number of letters in a word. The phenomenon of anagrams in culture and art refers to anagrams as a cultural and artistic creation method, that is, the use of “anagrams” for artistic creation, so that the works of art have deeper connotation and artistic interest. We know that rhetoric can be used to give a deeper meaning to a text. In mathematics, we also know to use formulas to calculate and count data. Then, in the world of art, anagrams are mainly used as tools and symbols for creating texts. This paper takes the phenomenon of anagrams in culture and art as the theme, and takes the analysis of “phenomenon” and “meaning” as the research object. The research nature lies in trying to find a “worldview” in the field of musicology and art theory research, using anagrams as an example. In this paper, the research is carried out with three questions: First, what is the representation of anagrams in literature? How do we discover anagrams in literature; secondly, whether anagrams exist in other types of art, besides literature; and thirdly, what kind of artistic conception needs to be established through anagram research.
