- Abstract
This article discusses the portrayal of women in the early works of the famous female writer Lucy Chen. The agrestic complex of intelligentsia is taken as the main entry point. The author analyzes the writings of women in Lucy Chens novels during this period through deep reading of the text. What can be found is that the writing of women in these thirteen early works of hers seems to project the inescapable destiny of the struggle, pain, and helplessness, however, in fact, he is accusing and lamenting the various oppression and destruction carried out by social cancers such as superstition, the stubborn ideology of feudal patriarchy and so on. And, he called for people, including women, to bravely fight for happiness and freedom in the changing times and the modernization process.
