- Abstract
News value refers to that news can meet the audience’s cognitive needs for objective reality. Novelty, salience, importance, proximity and interest are the five elements of news value. In the era of new media, with the increase of information dissemination platforms, Such as Weibo, Wechat and Douyin and other “we media” are at our fingertips. Everyone is likely to become a news disseminator with different perceptions of news value elements. News positions and views are characterized by diversification and fragmentation. Distortion, lack of depth, too much emphasis on proximity, spread of entertainment become more serious. It is urgent to reshape the elements of news value, improve the quality of news reporting, improve the environment of information transmission and meet the needs of the audience. This paper tries to put forward the elements of news value that adapt to the development of media and the needs of the audience according to the characteristics of news communication in the new media era. This paper hopes to enrich the connotation of news value elements in theory, provide a variety of thinking dimensions, and provide reference for practice through the study of academic literature
