Abstract

This paper conducted a questionnaire survey on the current situation and problems of elderly care for the rural elderly in 14 prefecture-level cities in Liaoning Province, China, and a total of 530 valid data were collected. Based on the basic information data of the elderly, an analysis of variance was carried out on their daily living ability levels and their willingness to receive elderly care, and the following conclusions were drawn:(1) The rural elderly in Liaoning Province have a strong willingness to receive elderly care at home, and home-based elderly care is a common choice.(2) Affected by the economy, policies, etc., it is generally difficult for the rural elderly to access medical treatment, among which the elderly care problems of the disabled elderly deserve special attention.(3) Affected by the frigid climate, the recreational activities of the rural elderly are extremely scarce in autumn and winter. The corresponding suggestions are as follows:(1) Establish a home-based elderly care system suitable for cold rural areas, improve and optimize the supporting facilities, services and quality of rural home-based elderly care.(2) Establish a medical service center in line with rural characteristics, focusing on providing scientific nursing techniques for the families of disabled elderly people, thereby reducing the burden on the disabled elderly and their families.(3) Build elderly recreational projects and activity centers with the characteristics of cold rural areas in line with the seasonal characteristics of cold areas and the actual needs of the rural elderly.
