- Abstract
This paper focuses on synthesis and analysis of the algorithms for estimating the time of arrival and the duration of a narrow-band radio signal with arbitrary-function envelope and unknown initial phase, such algorithms provide overcoming the prior parametric uncertainty in different ways. We tested performance of quasi-likelihood, maximum likelihood and quasi-optimal estimation algorithms. One of our objectives was to find the closed analytical expressions for biases, variances and correlation coefficients of the estimates of time of arrival and duration that their accuracy would increase with signal-to-noise ratio. We also determined the influence of prior ignorance of the initial signal phase on the quality of the introduced estimates of time of arrival and duration of a radio signal.
