- Abstract
Due to the uncertain environment, actual business results may be significantly lower than expected. Will this affect R&D investment? This study examines the relationship between operating performance gap and R&D investment. We find that the operating performance gap can motivate technology-intensive firms to invest more in R&D, while the effect on non-technology-intensive firms is not significant.
