Abstract

The paper illustrates the significance of cultural teaching in teaching College English Course with discussing the ultimate purposes of education and goal of College English Course. The current situation and prevalent problems in cultural teaching of College English Course are analyzed and to improve the effectiveness, a four dimensional cultural teaching framework is borrowed to explore cultural competences the students should acquire from the College English Course and the specific cultural teaching mode. Some key elements which possibly have impacts on the effect and effectiveness of cultural teaching are analyzed and some suggestions on teaching practice are offered to solve the problems.
