- Abstract
The alumina-based eutectic ceramic is considered as a most promising candidate materials of aviation engines due to its excellent mechanical property and high temperature oxidation resistance. Effect of the forced heat transfer on the zone melting process of the eutectic ceramic is analyzed by finite element method. The results showed that: when the convective heat transfer coefficient increases, a higher heating power is required, especially at the initial growth stage; the melt convection intensity increases, and the convection pattern also changes. The depression degree of the solid-liquid growth interface increases significantly at the initial growth stage and this increase reduces as the interface moves away the crucible bottom.
