Abstract

This paper calculates the total factor productivity of Zhuhai City since1979, and analyzes the change trend and stage characteristics of the TFP.Also a regression model is established to analyze the influencing factors of TFP. The results show that: (1) The composition of labor-intensive industries in Zhuhai is relatively high,the economy is increasing returns to scale.The increase of factor input still contributes to the increase of economic output. (2) Zhuhai’s economic growth is gradually changing into a new model driven by technology and capital, but the contribution of TFP growth rate to Zhuhai’s economic growth is gradually weakening. (3) To a large extent, the total factor productivity of Zhuhai is derived from a series of profound system reforms since the reform and opening up. In fact, the technical component is not high.The results of this paper can provide decision-making basis for the economic development and the transformation of growth mode of Zhuhai and other similar cities.
