- Abstract
The article provides information on the first oil wells drilled in the North Caucasus. It analyzes the role and importance of the oil industry in the North Caucasus at the beginning of the 20th century. Large foreign companies have shown great interest in oil resources of Chechnya. The main factors that contributed to development of the borehole oil production and its advantages were identified. The history of the industrial oil production in Russia provides a striking picture of the struggle of domestic capital with the world oil companies. The article describes the initial stage of industrial production in Grozny oil region which played a key role in developing the oil industry in Russia.
