- Abstract
The Russia and Belarus regions economic development depends on a number of factors, one of which is the presence of a common border. Therefore, the aim of this study is to carry out a comparative analysis of economic indicators of the Russia and the Republic of Belarus border regions (Dnieper-Dvina region), to identify the main trends of their economic development. Research methodology: the analysis of the Dnieper-Dvina region economy is carried out according to the main economic indicators for the period from 1992 to 2018. The economic development of Smolensk, Vitebsk, Mogilev regions is studied in comparison with the capital Russia and Belarus regions and other regions. The growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) per capita (including gross regional product) and the industrial production index were chosen as the main indicators. The main results of the study. The unevenness of regions economic development in terms of GDP per capita and industrial production index is revealed. The main specialization of the region areas is determined. In the Dnieper-Dvina region, the economy is less volatile, develops slowly, but often develops more unpredictably, which may be due to the structural components of regional economies. The current situation indicates the absence of Dnieper-Dvina region advantages in comparison with other regions of these two countries.
