- Abstract
In order to provide the same or better service quality in the Internet than traditional circuit-switched telephone network, there exist a number of issues to be dealt with that have hampered it in the Internet. These need good network planning and capacity management algorithms. The network performance optimization is modeled as nonlinear non-convex combinatorial mathematical formulations. The objective of the model is to minimize the total bandwidth consumption of IP telephony systems and subject to QoS and capacity constraints. Solution procedures based upon Lagrangean relaxation are proposed for the optimization formulation. In the computational experiments, the algorithm is tested to verify its effectiveness and efficiency.
