Abstract

This research is motivated by the scientific literacy abilities of students in the Primary School/PGSD Teacher Education Study Program which are closely related to the scientific literacy learning process, where the reality in science learning shows that the scientific literacy abilities of PGSD students at one of the private universities in the city of Bandung are still low. This research aims to describe the application of the RADEC model in increasing the scientific literacy of PGSD students and to analyze the increase in scientific literacy abilities of PGSD students whose learning uses RADEC. The approach used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design research design. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, namely PGSD students at one of the universities in the city of Bandung consisting of 23 students. The data collection technique used a written test instrument for scientific literacy skills and an observation sheet for implementing the RADEC learning model. The data analysis technique uses paired sample t test statistics using SPSS version 26. The results of the research are that the application can be categorized as very good, and the use of the RADEC learning model is effectively used in improving the scientific literacy skills of students in elementary school teacher education study programs.
