Abstract

Contemporary environmental challenges urge immediate sustainability actions. Islamic teachings provide a robust ethical framework, yet their integration into environmental discourse remains limited. This study fills this void by examining the alignment between Hossein Nasr’s environmental ethics and Islamic principles. Investigating integration potential, it offers insights into addressing urgent environmental issues and advancing sustainability. Drawing on Nasr’s philosophical insights, the study emphasizes the harmony between Islamic teachings and modern environmental concerns. Advocating for a shift towards sustainable practices rooted in Islamic tradition, it blends Islamic principles with environmental ethics. Nasr’s perspectives on humanity’s stewardship role and interconnectedness form the theoretical basis. Islamic teachings on environmental stewardship underpin the integration of Nasr’s environmental ethics into Islamic environmentalism. Methodologically, qualitative analysis of Nasr’s writings and Islamic scriptures is employed. Through critical examination, the study explores the philosophical underpinnings and practical implications of integration. Analysis centers on the compatibility between Nasr’s environmental ethics and Islamic teachings, and implications for addressing contemporary environmental challenges. Integrating Nasr’s environmental ethics into Islamic environmentalism fosters harmony between humanity and nature, paving the way for a sustainable future. Emphasizing the importance of incorporating Islamic perspectives, this study advocates for interdisciplinary exploration in sustainability efforts.
