Abstract

Substrates play important role in constructed wetland for pollutant removal, selecting suitable substrates is one of the effective ways to improve the purification performance and to prolong its service life. This paper reviews the research of constructed wetland substrates in recent years, including the decontamination effect of different substrates, removal mechanism, and the mechanism of clogging and prevents methods related with substrate. At last, the principles for substrate selection are discussed.
