- Abstract
This paper examines the role of third place provided by Starbucks in a small city in China to explore how the public spaces and individual needs interact with each other under the globalization background. The public spaces are becoming meaningless as they are commercialized, however, this research found that visitors at Starbucks bear personal purpose rather than behaviors being shaped by Starbucks, that for leisure and shelter.
