- Abstract
A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, a famous short fiction written by Hemingway, is noted for its characters building and theme of “nada”. Literature about the novel lay emphasis on the image analysis respectively to explore the theme with theories in subdivided disciplines. However, few researches analyse the unity of characters and its significance. This paper is oriented to explain the figures’ unity according to the texts, in order to further uncover the psychological picture of postwar Americans. From this perspective, the research will also identify the relations between the roles’ shared features and social marks.
