- Abstract
The sensitivity and response of a car-follower are marked by the follow-up response in the form of speed conversion that will generate either acceleration or deceleration. The study equipped a hidden camera which was operated through the iOnRoad Pro application to observe the speed and acceleration of the following vehicles. It also operated a car tester at the real traffic flow on the arterial and collector road by setting up two types of conditions, namely with the installation of a warning sign at the rear part of the car tester and with the uninstallation of the warning sign. During the observation on the arterial road with the uninstallation of the warning sign, the car-followers signified sensitivity values (a) 0.622 and -4.045, while with the installation of the warning sign, the sensitivity values reached 1.143 and -3.566. Meanwhile, on the collector road with the uninstallation of the warning sign, the car-followers signified the sensitivity values 0.953 and -2.647, while with the installation of the warning sign, the values touched the numbers 1.723 and -2.229. The statistics indicated a significant difference regarding the sensitivity of the following drivers. To conclude, the warning sign installation at the rear part of the car tester could affect the sensitivity of its following vehicles
