- Abstract
Intangible cultural heritage (ICH) is made up of customs, traditions and knowledge that are transmitted from generation to generation, which due to the lack of resources and knowledge for its preservation are at high risk of disappearing tags. This research aims to describe how university documentaries fulfill functions that contribute to the safeguarding of ICH. To this end, the qualitative approach was used, applying the techniques of semi-structured interview to the managing teachers and the content analysis to the documentaries produced by the students. As a result, it was obtained that the production processes carried out by the students fulfill an effective role of preservation of heritage memory, through audiovisual narrative, and it is concluded that these documentaries are unofficial resources of preservation and cultural dissemination through alternative platforms to the mass media.
