The reformation wave 98 has given fresh air for the growth of democracy in Indonesia. The collapse of the hegemonic New Order power has given rise to public pressure to bring democracy into state practice. At the same time the state must also open up a space of freedom for the community to assemble and associate in order to strike for that interest.
