- Abstract
This work is carried out in the framework of linguoculturology and the theory of linguocultural types as one of the current trends in modern linguistics. The article considers the linguocultural type “Prominente / Prominenter” as a special type of the concept. The choice of the object of study is dictated by the lack of its research in linguistic works. The phenomenon “Prominente / Prominenter” is widespread in modern German society and is present in all spheres. But so far, this social and cultural phenomenon has only been studied in sociology, cultural studies, and communication theory. The linguocultural type “Prominente / Prominente” is of interest precisely as an object of linguistic research, because the culture of self-expression is closely connected with the verbal self-presentation of the subject in social relations, and the representation of experience directly concerns the mentality. We proceed from the assumption that in German linguoculture there exists linguocultural type “Prominente / Prominenter” as a variant of the basic concept “prominent”, which represents a culturally specific personality, i.e., a typified person identified by certain specific characteristics of verbal and non-verbal behavior and values-based orientations. Based on the specifics of the object, subject, and material of the research, we define the methodology, methods, and techniques of constructing the concept. Scientific and linguistic definitions of the concept “Prominente / Prominenter” are considered. We find out that the existing definitions provide a rather limited opportunity to identify the features in the meaning of the word. An etymological commentary on the key words of the concept is provided. Synonyms of key words prominent, Prominente / Prominenter as verbalizers of linguocultural type are identified and analyzed based on German-language printed and electronic lexicographic sources. The analysis of synonymic rows reveals the words extending the conceptual features, which are singled out in the dictionary definitions. It is established that verbalizers of the conceptual side of the construct are replenished at the expense of word-formation activity of key words of the investigated concept. The results of the analysis of the material are summarized and the prospects for further research are outlined.
