Synthesis of Nano TiO2-Fe2O3 Photocatalyst and photocatalytic degradation properties on oxytetracycline hydrochloride

- Abstract
Nano TiO2-Fe2O3 composite photocatalyst was synthesized by solvothermal method. Fe(NO3)3•9H2O and titanium isopropoxide was used as precursor. The mixture of anhydrous ethanol, 2-propanol and diethylene glycol was used as solvent. The composite photocatalyst was characterized by X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The composite was composed of anatase TiO2 and -Fe2O3. The average grain size of TiO2 and Fe2O3 are 18nm and 16nm, respectively. The absorption spectrum of anatase TiO2 was in ultraviolet region, while -Fe2O3 exhibited high absorption in the visible light region of 400-600 nm. TiO2-Fe2O3 nano particles had light absorption in the region of 200~550 nm. When the initial concentration was 60mg/L and pH was 5.5, the degradation rate reached the maximum. Moreover, the TiO2-Fe2O3 nanocomposite was effective after three recycling times.
