- Abstract
Mao Zedong’s “Speech at the Yan’an Forum on Literature and Art” in 1942 and Xi Jinping’s “Speech at the Forum on Literature and Art” (hereinafter referred to as the two “Speeches”) in 2014 are two glorious Marxist literature and art theoretical guidance documents. Under the illumination of the spirit of the two “Speeches”, contemporary Shaanxi writers Liu Qing, Lu Yao, Chen Zhongshi, Jia Pingwa, Hongke, Jingfu and others, with a strong sense of social responsibility, held aloft the banner of realism, insisted on adhering to the people-centered creative orientation and stand of writing, and created a large number of excellent literary works reflecting the basic spirits of the two “Speeches”, such as History of Entrepreneurship (《创业史》), The Ordinary World (《平凡的世界》), The Story of Qinling Mountains (《秦岭记》), The Flame Deep in the Sun (《太阳深处的火焰》) and Document NO.1 (《一号文件》), which have enriched and prospered Shaanxi contemporary literature and even Chinese contemporary literature.
