- Abstract
The concept of fate is one of the important themes extensively explored in ancient Greek mythology, as well as literary works such as tragedies. Its profound philosophical ideas have had a far-reaching impact and influence on subsequent humanities. Beyond a literary perspective, this paper explores the concept of fate in ancient Greece from etymology, history, religion, and philosophy, providing a comparative analysis. It uncovers various dimensions of the concept, emphasizing its unassailable nature. Human free will is manifested in how individuals accept their preordained destiny. The concept of fate, with its enigmatic nature, inspires reverence for the unknown and the metaphysical. Given concerns about excessive rationalization in modern society, revisiting the concept of ancient Greek fate offers a beneficial response.
