- Abstract
This study aims to delve into the Chinese Disney fan community’s discussion of this racially relevant issue in the context of the live-action version of The Little Mermaid, starring a black cast, a movie that not only touches on the issue of loyalty to the original, but also on broader racial, cultural, and social issues. By analyzing the responses of the Chinese Disney fan community and their texts on online social media platforms (mainly Douban), this paper hopes to provide insight into the diverse and complex evaluations of the film by the Chinese Disney fan community, as well as the social perceptions and contexts reflected in these evaluations.
