- Abstract
“Metamorphosis” is a literary work that describes the half and half social environment in modern China. It is not a strict post colonial work, but the colonized mentality expressed in it strongly shows the confusion and despair of Chinese modern intellectuals in cultural identity. The incompatibility of culture and the disillusionment of the strong desire to seek roots led to the tragedy of Chinese modern intellectuals.
