- Abstract
In literary works, especially in poems, there are many imagined characters, scenes or plots. These characters, scenes or plots must be unfamiliar when they were first created. However, when these imaginary characters, scenes or plots are mentioned, quoted or recreated in the works of later literati, they will become the common memories of the general public, at least the literati. No matter how illusory, ethereal, and startling were in the imaginary descriptions in the past, they gradually stabilized in later literary works, became richer, and formed a common cultural memory. When a legend becomes literary material, its authenticity, its logic, and its original purpose are not important anymore. What is important is the resonance it arouses and the picture it shows. This is especially true for poetry. When a story is sung locked in the verse of a poem, the rhyme and the sense of picture make people intoxicated and empathetic.
