- Abstract
The goal in this paper is to demonstrate that had the relevant authorities delayed affecting the production code by a few more years, the planned boycotts by the Catholic Legion of Decency, some sections of Protestant fraternity and women’s groups against films deemed immoral would have sunk the entire American film industry thanks to unprecedented dips in profits.
