- Abstract
This study looks into the semantic extensions of Japanese verb yaku’s 11 meanings in light of cognitive semantic framework. Data are drawn from NINJAL-LWP for BCCWJ (NLB). The Dictionary “Shogakukan Unabridged Dictionary of the Japanese Language” is employed for categorization. The finding brings us to the direction of semantic extension as well as a diagram of polysemous system.
