- Abstract
The traditional virtue of Chinese teachers is to set an example. Confucius, a great educator in the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States Period, regarded “being a teacher” as the most basic requirement of the teacher profession. He once said, “He who is upright does not obey orders. He who is not upright does not obey orders.” When Han Yu, an educator in The Tang Dynasty, put forward the idea of “teaching by body”, he believed that such teachers would “die and their teaching will survive”. The western educator Plato once said: education is for the later life of training, it can make people good, is a noble act. Education is not utilitarian, it is a serious systematic science and needs correct guidance. This paper mainly analyzes the education cases in China and the West through the case method, and draws the conclusion that teaching by teachers is the way to illuminate the education. At the same time, education is not utilitarian, it is a serious systematic science and needs correct guidance.
