Abstract

Director David Lynch is a representative of contemporary American non-mainstream cinema. His films stand out for their gorgeous, dark, and eerie style that uses black humor. He often uses Freud’s psychoanalysis to show the mental symptoms of anxiety and depression in people. This article mainly devotes to analyzing the application of Freudism in David Lynich’s film Blue Velvet, concentrating on how psychoanalytic criticism influences the world of arts.
