- Abstract
Marine insurance is needed in tanker oil pollution as an application of the principle of strict liability. Protection and Indemnity (P and I) as an insurance specifically for tanker oil pollution claims has its own special features different from insurance in general. This insurance (legal liability insurance) that is mutual in nature (mutual benefit reciprocal) is based on the presence of shared interest from its members and their respective risks in overcoming the dangers that arise with the capital raised by the members in the spirit of mutual benefit for its members.
