Abstract

Learning problem-solving can enable students to be more critical and creative in making decisions to solve problems in their lives. The purpose of this study was to analyze students’ mathematical problem-solving skills on the material of a three-variable system of linear equations. The subjects of this study were 3 students of South Garut Vocational School. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. The instrument used in this study was a description test in the form of a mathematical problem-solving ability test consisting of 3 questions, interviews to determine each student’s ability, and field notes. The data analysis technique used in this study consisted of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results in this study indicate that high-ability students are able to complete all mathematical problem-solving ability test questions well according to the indicators with a score of 97. In contrast, moderately capable students are able to solve all questions but there are still mistakes in each question with a score of 67, and for students, those with low abilities did all the test questions but there were still many mistakes and not all indicators were met with a score of 43.
