- Abstract
This paper analyzesLaos’s trade policy before and after economic reform using an ADF test, co-integration analysis, Granger causality test, and an error correction model to analyzeforeign trade and economic growth. The empirical results show that, in the long term, Laos’s total trade, exports and importsare positively related to its GDP. Laos’s exports have a greater impact on its GDP than imports. In the short term, Laos’s total trade volume has a relatively large impact on GDP. The impact of exports to GDP is positive and more significant, while the impact of Laos’s imports on GDP is negative.
