- Abstract
This study intends to evaluate the effects of multinational corporations (MNCs) on the social and economic aspects of the communities in Mimika Regency and Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The study employs a mixed-methods approach with a case study design to explore and understand the importance that people or a group place on social or humanitarian issues. The study uses data from MNCs and time series data covering the period from 2012 to 2022 to assess secondary data's economic and social implications. This study analyzed the unemployment rate, gross domestic product, human development index, mean years of schooling, and poverty rate. The research indicates that MNCs have had a significant economic and social impact in Morowali and Mimika Regency. This shows that the U.S. capital market outperforms China in terms of both the quantity and quality of foreign direct investment (FDI). However, China has a more significant impact on boosting economic growth.
