- Abstract
Rhythm theory is the core and soul of Zong Baihua’s aesthetic thought, a deep reflection of the life spirit of Chinese art. Influenced by Bergson and Chinese life philosophy, Zong Baihua formed an aesthetic view of artistic expression of life rhythm. Rhythm is the noumenon of art, the inner cadence within the image, the melody of music, and the mood of the subject’s mind. Zong’s rhythm theory is a model of aesthetic criticism of intuitive experience and the core aesthetic category of China, which makes a profound and incisive interpretation of Chinese art. Under the background of mutual learning between Chinese and Western civilizations, Zong’s rhythm theory is of great value to the construction of contemporary art theory with Chinese characteristics.
