- Abstract
A pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of different concentrations of selenium (Se) on photosynthetic pigment content of Perilla frutescens. The results showed that Se treatment had significant effect on contents of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotenoid and total chlorophyll. With Se concentrations increased, the photosynthetic pigment content showed a different trend. However, as a whole, the content of photosynthetic pigments tends to decrease. When Se concentration was 0 mg/kg, contents of chlorophyll a, carotenoid and total chlorophyll reached the peak. However, chlorophyll b content reached the peak when Se concentration was 5 mg/kg, which increased by 10.13% compared with the control. Therefore, Se can reduce the photosynthetic pigment content of P. frutescens. When Se concentration was low, P. frutescens reaction was not obvious, but with the increase of the concentration, the photosynthetic pigment content significantly reduced.
